Official Records Contacts

These are the official Scott County starting points for questions about current custody, a booking record, an arrest report, or a court case. This private reference service cannot confirm custody, release someone, post bond, or retrieve government records. Contact the office that holds the particular record.

Scott County Sheriff and Jail

For a current-custody question, start with the Scott County Sheriff's Office or jail. The research found no verified public online roster, so a phone confirmation is the official current-status route. For a booking record or potential photograph, ask who the current records custodian is and send a narrow written Mississippi Public Records Act request.

The research did not verify separate public records hours or a dedicated booking-record email. Confirm the recipient before sending a request. Emergencies require 911, not the jail number or an online contact form.

Courts and Case Records

A booking event and its later court disposition are not held by the same office. Circuit Clerk Rebecca “Becky” Gray is the county contact for criminal-file questions, indictments, motions, judgments, and executions. Justice Court handles initial appearances and listed lower-court matters; Circuit Court has criminal jurisdiction for cases not reserved elsewhere.

  • Circuit Clerk: PO Box 371, Forest, MS 39074, 601-469-3601, scottcircuitclerk@scottcountyms.gov.
  • Justice Court: PO Box 371, Forest, MS 39074, 601-469-4555.
  • Circuit Court: 100 East 1st Street, Forest, MS 39074, 601-469-3601.
  • Youth Court: 100 East 1st Street, Forest, MS 39074, 601-469-1922.

Do not seek juvenile booking photographs or juvenile roster details. Ask the clerk which court has a record and what public inspection or copy method applies.

Request Routing

Use the county booking-record route for a focused Sheriff or jail request. The county public-records form is directed to the Chancery Clerk and can be useful for county-held material, but it does not prove that every elected office uses the same procedure. A municipal police report should go to the city department; a state-prison or parole question should go to MDOC; a federal or immigration custody question belongs to the relevant official locator.

For a non-emergency warrant question, contact the Sheriff or the appropriate court. Never approach a person based on a possible warrant or report a tip through a mugshot page.
